About the Classes   Venues

Perhaps you did ballet when you were young and would like to take it up again? Maybe you do ballet at college and need to develop your technique?

I pitch the classes at an elementary level for those who have had some previous experience and those who would like ballet to be a part of an active lifestyle.

Classes start at the barre where we warm up with a series of exercises before moving to the centre of the studio. Here we do some simple combinations which build up to a big jump at the end of the class!

My aim is to help you to develop your technique, improve your posture, build a strong core and have some fun dancing.

Private lessons
I teach private lessons at the British Ballet Organisation (BBO) Studios on Lonsdale Road, London SW13 (on the south side of Hammersmith Bridge). Times are very flexible and I charge £45.00 an hour (which includes the studio hire). I am happy to discuss lower rates for students.
About me
My name is Clare Lumley. I am a classically trained dancer from The Royal Ballet School. A serious injury stopped me from pursuing a fulltime career but having decided to start going to class again seven years ago I have discovered how much I enjoy teaching adults of all abilities and helping them to enjoy ballet. In addition to my own classes, which I keep purposefully small, I teach Marguerite Porter’s general standard, open class at Richmond for Brian Loftus when he is teaching abroad.
